Building upon the academic foundation established at Memphis Catholic High School, our students gain invaluable experience in a wide variety of industries through their internships. Here are some of the things our students and mentors say about their experience.
Being a part of this school opened so many doors for me, especially the work-study program. I have gained knowledge that could only have come from that experience. Being around people who believed in me as much as my family has driven me to go the extra mile, and exceed beyond my expectations.
Elondria // Class of 2010, winner of Gates Millenium Scholarship, Christian Brothers College
My teachers all made a meaningful impact on me. I have been inspired not only by teachers, but students as well. Thank you for letting me be a part of the Memphis Catholic family
Jaquan // Class of 2010, Salutatorian, Harding College/University
I feel that I am on the right path with my life because of Memphis Catholic and the “Education That Works” program. It has given me the opportunity of a lifetime. I have received a solid education, as well as valuable internship experience that most people don’t receive until their 20’s. This experience has set me up for college and a lucrative job, as well as fortifying my life. My job at FedEx and education at Memphis Catholic taught me valuable information. I will continue to use my knowledge and values my whole life. I also plan and pray to give my children the same experience that I have received when the time comes.
Racquel // Class of 2009, Valedictorian, Vanderbilt University
When I was in middle school I was a far different person from who I am today. I was a troublemaker who was never liked by many of the teachers and someone who could barely imagine the idea of consistently getting on the honor roll. That changed nearly the first moment I stepped into Memphis Catholic. I’m not exactly sure why, but I am sure it is to this school’s credit, that sometimes during my first semester I fell out of many of the patterns to which I had been previously bound. Very quickly, I became an honor student and became closer to my teachers than I had ever thought possible.
Daniel // Class of 2011, Salutatorian, Miss. University for Women
Do not try, do, that is what I have learned from Memphis Catholic, end results matter—a whole lot. Trying to finish a project and having a project finished are two different things. In the real world, that is what matters.
Aminah // Class of 2010, Memphis College of Art
I have made lifelong friends and met faculty and staff who cared enough to only accept my best. The teachers have given me the courage, strength, and most importantly, the knowledge to face the future with confidence.
Stanley // Class of 2010
I believe that I have honestly grown in faith and in spirit thanks to this school. I learned that in Him, and through Him, anything is possible.
Ebone // Class of 2011, University of Tennessee-Martin
The school is like another family. Everyone is extremely close, and everyone is there, when you need them.
Curtis // Class of 2011, MTSU
The experience one can achieve in this institution if a once in a lifetime chance
Samuel // Class of 2010, University of Memphis
Memphis Catholic has been so beneficial to me in the real world. Being a part of this school and the “Education That Works” program has prepared me for college and allowed me to meet everyone from executives at St. Jude Hospital to the CEO of FedEx.
Bre’Anna // Class of 2011, Xavier University
