Student Intern Testimonials - EDUCATION THAT WORKS PROGRAM:
...I have definitely enjoyed my 1 1/2 years at Mid-America Apartment Communites. Being a senior, I realize how important it is to lead by example and show good responsibility. I love the people here and I hope I'll have future involvement with the company. (KJ - Class of 2010)
...I enjoy working here (RE Transportation) for several reasons: 1) my co-workers are nice people and they help me if I need it, 2) even though RE is a big company, it feels more like a big family or team in this office, and 3) I want to learn more about the Logistics business since that's what my dad is in. (JT - Class of 2013)
...I love working here! The people are nice and I have learned a lot. I'm so thankful that I get to work at such an important business (Southeastern Asset Management). (MD - Class of 2011)
...I really enjoy working for the H.I.M. Department at St. Francis. I am going to miss working here once I graduate. (TF - Class of 2010)
...I feel that the people at my job (Memphis Light, Gas and Water) create an environment that not only is friendly, but if I have questions, I feel comfortable in asking them. I feel that I can always learn something from anybody at that workplace. (AW - Class of 2010)
...For the time I have been working here (Southwest Tennessee Community College), I can say I do feel like a part of the team and wish to learn as much as I can as this year progresses. (TC - Class of 2011)
...I feel like I can ask questions when I don't understand a task. My co-workers and mentor (AutoZone) are always available when I need assistance. I feel like I am a part of a good team. (AL - Class of 2010)
...This is the greatest job (Morgan Keegan) I have ever had. Everyone I work with is very nice and friendly. I wish I worked here at the beginning of the work-study program. (MM - Class of 2010)
...I feel that I am on the right path with my life because of the ETW (Education That Works) program. It is giving me an opportunity of a lifetime. I will have valuable work experience that most people don't receive until they are in their late 30's. This experience is setting me up for college and a lucrative job, as well as fortifying my life. My job at FedEx and Memphis Catholic has taught me valuable information. I will continue to use my knowledge and values my whole life. I also plan and pray to give my children the same experience that I have received when the time comes. (RM - Class of 2012)
...I have learned to work as a team member. This job has helped me understand the real world and the competitiveness of jobs, but I also learned things at Memphis Catholic like how to talk on the phone in a business-like manner and tranfer calls. My strengths are working efficiently, with speed and minimal errors. The things I need to work on are being more involved in talking to other people because I am shy at many times. When I think about school and work, I can honestly say that I am heading on the right path. (KD - Class of 2012)
...I learned at Junior Achievement the basics of a non-profit organization. As a non-profit, you must get money through sponsorships. The program that I was working with at JA called Exchange City has also taught me how important education is to our society. I am on the right path. I have God in my life. I attend school and I make good grades, and I am starting to stay out of trouble. My plans after high school are to attend college. (QJ - Class of 2012)
